More on the Astrology of 2008!

In the field of astrology, a top interest and concern is always an individual’s full birth chart – composed of the Sun, Moon, eight planets, various asteroids, the lunar orbit or nodes, twelve signs of the zodiac arranged in a circle, the rising sign and, mathematical alignments among the celestial bodies. Furthermore, anyone who starts learning about his or her horoscope will need to find out about the major future cycles (transits and progressions) that are going to occur in the weeks, months and years ahead.

For a professional astrologer, the work involved in interpreting a client’s birth chart and future cycles is highly complex. When you add on the additional themes of synastry (chart comparison with another person), relocation, reincarnation and karma, and special analysis on health, money, romance, family ties, creative artistry, career or education, it’s easy to see why understanding the breadth and depth of modern astrology requires sophisticated software tools, long hours of research, and incredible diligence by the practitioner.

However, there is also a field known as Mundane Astrology – in which the focus is on nations, world trends, collective behavior, and the big picture. And one of the key cycles used in this sphere of wisdom is the approximately 20-year conjunctions and alignments between the two largest planets in our solar system – Jupiter and Saturn.

If you were an urban shaman living in the ancient world of the Middle East or Southern Europe before the time of Christ, and fortunate enough to have been born into nobility, you would have probably been reared in an atmosphere that cherished the pageantry of the heavens – including the lore of the constellations and the movements of the celestial bodies. In cities like Thebes (on the Nile River), Babylon (on the Euphrates River), Alexandria (along the Mediterranean Sea) and Athens (by the Aegean Sea), you would have been a frequent sky-watcher and someone steeped in the knowledge of the ongoing Jupiter-Saturn cycles of your historical time-period.

Jupiter and Saturn are crucial planets for all of us to watch and learn about because they are the primary rulers of space (Jupiter) and time (Saturn). As the two largest celestial bodies in our solar system, they help to maintain the balance and equilibrium of the entire structure from the central core (Sun) to the outermost boundaries some three billion miles away (Pluto). Even on the individual level – when you really think about it – a horoscope is actually the spatial energy-field and whole planetary pattern at birth (Jupiter) calculated for a specific moment of time (Saturn).

In their 20-year cycles – related back to Earth and Humanity – Jupiter and Saturn offer us keys to comprehending new directions in world affairs, political leadership, financial matters, educational pursuits and fulfilling our professional ambitions.

Right now we are all living within a 20-year Jupiter-Saturn cycle that began on May 28, 2000 at 23 degrees of Taurus. This cycle ends on December 21, 2020 when Jupiter and Saturn unite again – this time at 1 degree of Aquarius. In addition, there are “Mutation Cycles” of these Jupiter-Saturn unions. For extended periods of time – lasting between 160 and 200 years – these two biggest planets will keep converging in one of the four elements (fire, earth, air or water). Currently – and since January 1842 – we are in the earthy dispensation, and the element of earth is strongly connected to land, property, wealth, material assets, budgets, the physical body, tangible qualities, possessions and valuables that we own individually, and success in the real world.

How does all this relate to your potential achievements in 2008? Following two flowing trine patterns of 120 degrees by Jupiter in Sagittarius and Saturn in Leo (March and May 2007), these two planets will make three harmonious trines in the zodiac during 2008 while Jupiter is in Capricorn and Saturn is located in Virgo. These dates are January 21, September 8, and November 21.

Now the two trines of 2007 were in fire signs – representing dynamic energy, excitement, assertion, leadership and inspirational activities. The scene is shifting in 2008 to the earth element, and this provides each of us with three golden opportunities to ground and anchor our visions of fulfillment in practical and realistic ways.

Keep in mind that even though we know the exact dates when Jupiter and Saturn form their trine pattern in the heavens, there is certainly a build-up of several days or perhaps up to two weeks before-hand when their momentum and potency kick in. Therefore, you should stay aware of the three dates in January, September and November in order to make superb use of the time-periods just before the precise Jupiter-Saturn alignments take hold.

By working conscientiously with daily affirmations and visualization exercises – that help to promote your self-confidence, feelings of abundance, and to keep you locked into an optimistic mind-set – you can utilize the three Jupiter-Saturn trine aspects to turn your life around for the better, grow your business, enhance your artistic talents, and be recognized as a mover and shaker in your major fields of expertise.

Plus – the successes you create along the way can then reach an even greater pinnacle when Jupiter and Saturn form their opposition or “Full Moon” enlightenment phase in May 2010, August 2010, and March 2011. And for those of you really thinking ahead into the long-term future, there will be another set of Jupiter-Saturn flowing trine alignments to tap into in July 2013, December 2013, and May 2014. Those three trine patterns will be in the water signs of Cancer and Scorpio – with water signifying nurturance, strong emotional needs, fervent expression of feelings, realizing your dreams, imaginative power, and psychic sensitivity.
