Highlights of the May 2013 Cosmic Calendar
by Mark Lerner

Nine days after the challenging Mars-Saturn polarity of April 30, the New Moon of Taurus occurs on May 9. Most New Moons occur on their own -- with the solar and lunar orbs uniting, and no other celestial bodies close by. However, this is not the case on May 9 as the important asteroid Pallas closely conjuncts both Sun and Moon, making this New Moon a trio of cosmic forces rather than a duet. Plus, every New Moon can be likened to a seed that grows toward a complete flowering at the Full Moon to follow. Therefore, the various archetypes of Pallas will spring forth for all of humanity during the 15 days between this month's New Moon and Full Moon.

Pallas connects with mental brilliance, genius, engineering, city planning, research and development, expertise in arts and crafts, computer programming, and -- particularly -- problem-solving, strategy sessions, and the immune system. In addition, in regard to a country’s vital interests, Pallas has much to do with the potency of defense departments worldwide. Since the May New Moon is also uniting with America's natal Vesta at 20 degrees of Taurus, be on the lookout for issues and events associated with the housing industry, insurance rates and companies, sensible investment planning, and safety-security techniques, including the realms of computers virus protection, hacking incidents, and cyberspace. Keep in mind that the Sun will exactly unite with Pallas on May 10 while Mercury unites with Pallas on May 11. These alignments continue galvanizing the Pallas qualities in all our lives while – in the USA – the Vesta themes mentioned above remain pronounced in synchronicity.

When the Sun enters Gemini this year on Monday May 20, this solar entry does not happen on its own -- as is the usual case for most Sun ingresses into a sign of the zodiac. Less than two hours after the Sun moves into Gemini, Uranus forms its third square to Pluto since these two outer planets began a 90-degree relationship in 2012. In totality, there will be 7 Uranus-Pluto squares that happen -- finishing in March 2015. These face-offs between the freedom-loving, revolutionary and shocking Uranian energy-field versus the controlling-concentrating, underworld-ruling Pluto forces are a mirror reflection of their clashes during the early 1930s. Just as the 1930s brought the world The Great Depression, the New Deal, and the rise of various tyrants around the globe, this time-period is bringing us The Great Recession, massive debt-spending to spur job creation, and the worry over tyrants recently in countries like Libya, Egypt, North Korea, Syria, Iran, and in many regions of Africa.

The Full Moon of May 24 (often referred to in esoteric circles as the Festival of Humanity) is not only a major catalyst toward spiritual enlightenment, but Mercury joins forces with Venus in Gemini on the same day -- offering opportunities for success in the realms of literature, the arts, and education. Because Mercury moves on to unite with Jupiter on Monday May 27 while Venus conjuncts Jupiter on Tuesday May 28, we really have a 5-day time-period (from May 24 to May 28) when the illuminating vibrations of the Full Moon are raised in frequency to very high levels as a Mercury-Venus-Jupiter trinity provides a super-saturation of inspiration across the board.

Note: Due to three, revelatory 72-degree links from Mercury, Venus and Jupiter to Uranus on May 27 and May 28, we actually see a remarkable cosmic connection aligning the Gemini focus of Mercury-Venus-Jupiter with the Aries focus of Uranus. This brings in the willpower, intuition, and leadership qualities usually contained within the first sign of the zodiac, but -- in this situation -- on loan to the powerful trio giving off creative sparks in Gemini.
