The Samhain New Moon (10/26/11)

Shamanic Descent and Rebirth Inspiring Artistic Expression

On Wednesday, October 26^th, we will experience a Samhain New Moon in Libra (sidereal). Samhain is the ancient name for the Pagan New Year now commonly known as Halloween and celebrated on October 31st. (According to tradition, however, Samhain actually spans several days, ending on November 11th.) In the ancient Pagan tradition, the New Moon immediately preceding Samhain was known as a Samhain New Moon. It served as a portal opening into a liminal period between the Samhain New Moon and Samhain, itself, which was called No-Time or the Time Between.

This No-Time or Time Between is a magical interval during which the old must die before the new can be born and a New Year can begin. Mundane laws of time and space are suspended, along with consensus reality, and the veil between this world and the Otherworld becomes very thin. This is a time for communicating with one’s ancestors and departed loved ones, as well as for studying and practicing the rituals of shamanic descent and rebirth taught by the ancient Mystery Schools. It is a time for embracing the Dark Mysteries of the Dark Mother and her consort.

In ancient times, these mysteries were the deepest source of inspiration for the arts in places like Italy and Greece, so this is also a time for diving deep into the well of your own creative imagination and bringing forth new wonders of artistic expression. Edgar Cayce channeled the following very relevant past-life information regarding the Moon in Libra placement from which to draw further inspiration:

You may remember in your deeper meditations and dreams, experiences from long ago when you were among great artists, sculptors, poets, and craftsmen of ancient India as well as the more recent leaders of prosperous, classical Greece. Even later day Venice, Florence and other Italian cities developed some of this love of culture, beauty and appreciation of art which you were closely involved with then and which you find rewarding still.
