The New & Full Moon Forecast: New Moon (6/19/12)
![]()
Astrologers Isha Lerner and Tara McKinney join forces to offer their complementary interpretations of the New and Full Moon phases each month – Isha from the Western perspective, Tara from the Vedic. Isha’s approach draws upon thirty years in her practice of Western astrology. Tara’s approach employs the ancient Vedic system of 27 “Lunar Mansions” (each 13 1/3 degrees wide) which are oriented primarily around the stars (sidereal), the constellations and our Galactic Center. Please join us every couple of weeks for the latest guidance from the Great Lunar Goddesses of both Western and Eastern traditions.
New Moon June 19th, 2012

Expansion and Love
Long ago a friend said something to me that I’ll never forget. It’s a simple thought, one that many have encountered before, but for that split second of time when this idea was presented to me, I felt free. I was sad about something….I don’t remember for what reason now, when my friend, with wise compassion said: “You may feel sad, but I suggest you act otherwise. Act as if you are content…be what you wish for and enjoy your day.” The suggestion bolted me into a buoyant sense of freedom within and I realized in that moment I was not tethered to this static state of sadness. I could, and did, act as if I were joyful, and this shift allowed joy to stream into my heart.
This little vignette of life is mirrored today during this New Moon. On a collective scale we are prompted to “Act As If.” This stellar thought is magnified by the waves of the Sabian Symbol, energized by 29 degrees of Gemini.
The First Mockingbird of Spring
Keynote: The creative exuberance of the human soul in response to basic life experiences.
What this symbol refers to is a kind of virtuosity granted to those willing to leap into the truest gift of their nature. What are the virtues of your destiny? How may you offer support and optimism to society? Under the influences of this New Moon we may begin anew with fresh perspective. The Mocking Bird imitates the sounds it hears and weaves them into its own expression. You may do the same. Look beyond self-doubt and send out a sacred call to serve the world with greater wonderment and joy and express the song of life in your own unique way.
This is one of my favorite quotes connected to the Wheel of Fortune card in the Triple Goddess Tarot.
How shall I begin my song in the blue night that is setting?
In the great night my heart will go out,
Toward me the darkness comes, rattling,
In the great night my heart will go out.
~Papago Medicine Woman Chant
I share this quote from the Wheel of Fortune card, ruled by the planet Jupiter, because this New Moon is in Gemini, the zodiacal sign where Jupiter, the great benefactor of the Soul, also currently resides! Jupiter bestows joy, grants expansion, and opens the door to new opportunities. Today is a wish day and it is quite certain the outcome of your deepest longings will rise like the Sun within your life.
As we progress along the road to greener pastures, remember to reflect on the notion that the dream that lives within us is as real as our waking day.
Soon Venus will move forward and our relationships will reveal the healing bestowed upon each of us. If obstacles were encountered in the area of love and harmony, resolution and clarity will be restored. During this New Moon a great healing beckons us forward and we are encouraged to journey toward the opening doors before us.
Heralding the Dawn of a 3-Year Revolutionary Period
By Tara Faulkner
The New Moon (6.19.2012 at 8:02 a.m. PDT) is at 4+ degrees of Gemini (sidereal), conjunct the Sun. The Moon represents your very soul, as well as your emotional nature (including your level of emotional intelligence), your degree of sensitivity and vulnerability, your personal unconscious, your childhood experiences (including any unresolved trauma), your ancestry, your roots, even your past-lives, plus your ability to nurture and be nurtured, as well as your sense of home and what you need in order to feel truly at home in the world. All of these associations with the Moon are being brought to the foreground for the sake of a profoundly revolutionary transformation heralded by this New Moon phase, as indicated by the Sabian Symbol for its placement at 4+ degrees of Gemini:
A Revolutionary Magazine Asking for Action
Keynote: The explosive tendency of repressed feelings and root emotions
Every movement overstressing one direction calls forth in time an equally extreme movement in the opposite direction. This is particularly true at the level of the dualistic mind symbolized in the zodiac by Gemini. What is rigidly bound in form and convention tends to explode into formlessness. It may do so violently, if socially oppressed – through revolution – or at the psychological level in psychosis; or it may withdraw inwardly into the mystical state in which one identifies with an unformulatable Reality.
…Whether the revolutionary action is violent or peaceful, bitterly resentful or loving, the one desire is to REACH BEYOND ESTABLISHED FORMS.
The key to working with this powerfully transformative energy in a skillful way is hinted at by the above sentence: “What is rigidly bound in form and convention tends to explode into formlessness.” Clearly, what is being called for at this time is the very opposite of “rigidity.” In fact, on both individual and collective levels, what is most needed are such qualities as flexibility, fluidity, spaciousness, open-mindedness, creativity, spontaneity, emotional maturity, courage, discernment and balance, in order to navigate our way between the extremes of destructive volatility, on the one hand, and the ungrounded disconnect characteristic of spiritual bypassing, on the other.
This New Moon phase heralds the official beginning of a profoundly revolutionary phase in our evolution as a species, symbolized by a series of seven exact Pluto/Uranus squares (in Capricorn and Aries, respectively), the first of which occurs this coming Sunday, June 24, culminating almost three years from now in the final exact square on March 17, 2015. The people we will have become and the world we will have co-created by the end of 2015, would be unrecognizable to us now, if we were able to see that far into the future. By cultivating all of the qualities listed above, however, we will be able to dance with the fierce winds of change as they occur day by day in order to become the people we are meant to be.
