In this hexagram Heaven is below Earth. This is very auspicious because it is the nature of the Heavenly energy to rise and of the Earthly energy to descend. When they meet in the center they commune with each other, creating the feelings of peace and harmony. Interestingly, this hexagram is often associated with the month of March, which makes the energy of peace and harmony even stronger.
In this case Guan also means a way of life, a life lived This can be a time when our self-cultivation practices come to fruition. The positive communion of Heaven and Earth create great opportunities for creative endeavors to result in greater prosperity and positive outcomes. It is also important not to over do or over extend at this time. The I Ching teaches us that all life is made of natural cycles. Even though this is a very positive cycle we should still be careful with our energy so that when the cycle transforms into something else, as cycles always do, we will still be in a strong and balanced position.
